Say No to “Page not found”

Ever been frustrated with 404 errors and “Page not found” messages ? A lot of pages gets moved around on the web, with no redirects or information about their new locations – a process known as link rot. This can lead to frustrating user experience on the web. Pagefactor helps in finding new locations of missing web pages.

Pagefactor is a user contributed database of moved pages and their new locations. Anyone who comes across a webpage on a new location can add that information to the database, helping other users from the frustration of having to find the missing page themselves. Adding changed domains or moved directories are very easy on Pagefactor. If an entire domain or a directory has moved to a new location, users need to new domain(directory). Add only one entry, ie, old domain (directory) All pages in the old domain or directory will be auto generated with the new domain or directory. Users can also override a single directory within a domain or a single page within a directory. Pagefactor will pick up the closest matching pattern to generate the new URL.
Pagefactor also auto generates links to the caching servers – Goggle and Wayback Machine. So, even if a location is not in the database, it makes it easy to find cached copies of that page.

With the Pagefactor bookmarklet, which can be added to the browser toolbar, users can access this site with a single click from any webpage.
